The Brief & Solution
Nestled in the Victoria bush landscape, less than 2 hours from Melbourne is the ideal location for a country weekend retreat. Our clients’ brief was simple, a weekend haven, low-maintenance, with the ability to accommodate guests when needed.
Collaborating with our clients, interior designer Mardi Doherty and landscape designer Jela Ivankovic-Waters was key to delivering this beautiful home, which sits thoughtfully within its idyllic bush setting.
The site had its challenges, being set amongst rolling hills. The home is cut into the hillside and designed as three separate pavilions linked by floating glazed bridges. Builder, Hedger Constructions expertly managed the construction, working with the consultant team to successfully deliver the clients’ vision.
Oriented to maximise not only the thermal performance, but also frame the expansive bush landscape. Each room features large windows providing uninterrupted views of the different aspects of the location.
An expansive deck links the pavilions and provides a generous outdoor space, connecting the beautiful garden to the home, a key element for our clients.
